Do you think we could see Emperor Palpatine again in some new STAR WARS movie? Ian McDiarmid intervenes

Like so many others Star Wars fans, when Emperor Palpatine showed up Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker I was disappointed with that direction of storytelling. I understand what Lucasfilm is JJ Abrams we were trying to do and now The Mandalorian series is playing with the whole concept of cloning, but I think there must have been a more interesting direction to go than resurrecting an old villain.

There were many reasons why it didn’t work, especially with the lack of configuration. Emperor Palpatine’s sudden return felt forced and lacked proper setup within the sequel trilogy. There were no foreshadowing or hints in the previous two films, The force awakens AND The Last Jediabout Palpatine’s survival and made it seem like he wasn’t an organic part of the story.

I also thought it undermined Anakin Skywalker’s sacrifice. The redemption and sacrifice of Anakin Skywalker to destroy the Emperor Return of the Jedi they were powerful and meaningful moments in the original trilogy. However, Palpatine’s return diminishes the significance of Anakin’s sacrifice.

The film does not provide a clear explanation of how Palpatine survived his apparent death Return of the Jedi. This lack of explanation has left audiences with unanswered questions, but The Mandalorian is currently toying with all that stuff.

Either way, it was recently announced that Lucasfilm is developing a new Rey Skywalker film that will tell a new story set after the events of The Rise of Skywalker. Daisy Ridley is set to reprise her role in the film which is directed by Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy (Mrs. Marvel) from a script written by Stefano Cavaliere (Peaky Blinders).

Do you think there’s a chance Palptine will appear in this new film? I mean, I guess anything could happen at this point! The reason I ask is because actor Ian McDiarmid was asked if he could come back in a flashback or something. She said, “I haven’t been contacted.”

Even if he’s been approached, he won’t admit it! McDiarmid has been involved in all three eras of the Star Wars film franchise, his last appearance was in a brief cameo in the Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi series, so if they ask him to return, of course, he will. .

If not Rey’s movie, do you think we’ll see him again in any of the other projects that are in development, like Dave Filoniis the next movie? How do you think his future in the franchise looks like?
