THE CONSTANT GARDENER is getting a limited series adaptation set in a post-pandemic context

The constant gardener is getting a limited series adaptation from the writer of His Dark Materials Lidia Adetunji. This imagining of the story is said to be set in a “post-pandemic context”.

The series is described as a “post-pandemic contemporary retelling” of one of author John le Carré’s most popular novels, which was previously adapted as a film in 2005. The story follows Justin Quayle, “a British diplomat and avid horticulturist who meets an Amnesty International activist in London named Tessa.After forging a romance, they embark on a journey that weaves brutal murder, government corruption and corporate wrongdoing into a plot that winds its way across Kenya, the UK and mainland Europe.

The Co-CEOs of Ink Factory Simone Cornwell AND Stephen Cornwell he said in a statement: “It is exciting to reinterpret The Constant Gardener in a contemporary, post-pandemic context and to root the story in an authentic and modern Kenya with all its richness, politics and energy. Lydia’s bold, exciting yet lyrical approach to the adaptation tells a story that keeps audiences on the edge of their seats – intensely relevant to the modern world and simply beautiful.”

Adetunji added that she “loves the passionate romance and gripping thriller” of the novel. I hope whatever they do with this new adaptation ends up being good!

The original movie was great and was directed by Fernando Meirelles of City of God. The film starred Ralph Fiennes such as Quayle e Rachel Weisz as Tessa, and Weisz won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance.
