When it comes to big-budget feature films, there’s bound to be some reshoots. Sometimes it means there are major issues that need fixing, but most of the time it’s nothing major just a few reshoots or minor tweaks.
Sigourney Weaver he just revealed it James Cameron will be filming for Avatars 3 and that he’ll be back on set in January for them. He explains what he expects the reshoots will entail, telling Screen Rant:
“I know in January I’ll be back and probably do some reshoots, I don’t think there are completely new scenes to shoot. I think it’s going to refine what [James Cameron’s] Realized now that he is getting close to editing, because he always has too much material. She loves to shoot. I wouldn’t even begin to guess what we could do, but I think maybe it’s just going back a couple of moments and giving him some shots that he didn’t get the way he wanted.
While Avatars 3 was impressed, Cameron previously said he’d come back and tinker with it some more. He said:
“I’ll take a moment when the dust clears to evaluate what people have loved and responded to the most in this current version, and then I might go back and tinker a bit [with ‘Avatar 3’]. We could go back and take a moment or two here and there. It won’t be radical, but maybe polish it a bit to emphasize what people are responding to.
When Weaver was asked if she had seen any footage from the film yet, she said:
“No, it’s not that kind of thing, it’s top secret for us too. [Chuckles] And then, probably when I come back in January and make a day of it, they’ll show me 20 minutes of it, but otherwise I’m just clueless, just like everyone else.
I guess Cameron will deliver another spectacular Avatar film. The stories he tells are simple yet strong, and are wrapped up in a beautiful visual spectacle. We don’t yet know the film’s title or synopsis, but Cameron did give us some insight into who the film will be centering on, saying:
“Lo’ak really emerged as a character that people got married to. So I might find ways to… he’s already the narrator. I’m giving something away here, but that’s OK. I think it might be intriguing for people to think about what’s coming. Jake was our voiceover narrator for film one and film two, and we have a different narrator for each of the subsequent films. We see it through the eyes of a different character. The third film is through the eyes of Lo’ak.
Cameron also teased the fire element of the third film and revealed that two new cultures would be introduced. He said:
“Fire has a symbolic purpose in the film and there’s a culture that revolves around that concept. He’s probably saying too much as we speak.
Cameron previously spoke a bit about the depiction of fire Avatars 3said:
“To show different cultures than the ones I’ve already shown. The fire will be represented by the “Ash People”. I want to reveal the Na’vi from another angle because, for the moment, I have only shown their good sides. In the early films there are very negative human examples and very positive Na’vi examples. In Avatar 3, we will have the opposite.
The director then revealed that two more new cultures will be introduced in the upcoming film, saying:
“In the next film you will meet two completely new cultures. We’ve met the Omaticaya, we’ve met the Metkayina, and in the next film, you’ll meet two new cultures, roaming a little more freely in Pandora’s world in different places.”
Avatars 3 hits theaters December 20, 2024. After seeing what The water way delivered, you are excited about the upcoming Avatars followed?
