Last year it was announced that Uncut gems directors, The Safdie Brothers, were going to direct Adam Sandler in another film project. It has now been reported that the brothers will split over this film as Benny Safdie he abandoned his position as co-director, therefore Josh Safdie he will go alone.
The untitled film project is a story set in the world of sports memorabilia, and the Safdies have written the script and will produce. It is also reported that Ben Affleck is in talks to star, alongside Megan Thee Stallion, Steve Harvey and Gael Garcia Bernal.
Set in the world of high-end sports card collecting in the 1990s, a retired baseball pitcher (Affleck) attempts a comeback as a sports memorabilia agent (Sandler) attempts to capitalize on his success. It is said that Megan Thee Stallion play Affleck’s girlfriend.
Benny Safdie has found himself starring in a lot of movies these days, so I guess his schedule has become full of acting gigs keeping him from directing. He has appeared in projects such as Licorice pizza, Stars at noonAND Obi-Wan Kenobi. She recently starred in Are you there God? It’s me, Margaretand will have a supporting role in Christopher Nolan’S Oppenheimer.
The new film was previously picked up by Netflix.
