It looks like Netflix is busy moving forward The sorcerer series even if they don’t know if people will show up to see the fourth season, which will see Liam Hemsworth substitute Henry Cavill. Fans are still pretty bitter that Cavill isn’t involved in the series after season 3, but it seems the streaming service is hopeful fans will continue to show up to watch without him.
During a recent interview with Deadline, casting director Sofia Holland revealed that after filming season 4, they will move straight into production on season 5. He said:
“We’re about to start filming Season 4 with Liam Hemsworth and there will be a short gap, then we’ll jump straight into Season 5.”
I’m curious to see how the future of The sorcerer takes place after Cavill has left. Will fans keep watching? With viewing numbers strong enough to make the big budget for the fantasy epic worth it? Regardless, Netflix is pretty confident that at least two go for another two seasons.
When Holland was asked if she was surprised to hear of Cavill’s departure, she said: ‘I probably won’t comment on that one. I’d love to, but I won’t. I’m really looking forward to seeing what Liam brings.’ fan. Season 4 will be a nice mix of new characters and returning faces.”
During a previous interview, showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich explained why they decided to continue the series without Cavill:
“It was time for him in his life to move on. I think we all mourned this in our own way. I mean, we had a chance to get Geralt out and end the show. [But] it’s not something we were willing to do. There are too many stories left to tell. If we replaced Geralt with another Witcher, we’d be leaving the books completely, and I don’t think that’s what anyone wanted.”
He continued on about Liam Hemsworth:
“We’re all excited for Liam to arrive. He’s got some huge shoes to fill, but he’s also got a lot of energy and a lot of excitement about it. It’s obviously a brand new chapter for us. And there’s a lot of feelings involved. But ultimately, we love what we’re doing. So we’ll move forward.”
