Ted Raimi starred in Wild Thriller FAILURE! Shot in a single take of 87 minutes

Ted Raimibrother and regular collaborator of Sam Raimistars in a crazy upcoming thriller titled Failure! and the film was shot in one 87-minute take.

Raimi plays the role of James, “a man who has only one hour to choose between financial ruin or murder to protect his family.”

The film was directed by Alex Kahuamand Alief acquired worldwide sales rights. Speaking about joining the film with Bloody-Disgusting, Raimi said, “I read it and it was quite radical. It was just one take, one shot. Yes, aren’t they bananas? One shot, that’s the idea. So, that’s 87 pages. It is essentially a play in three acts without intermission.“

Oh, and they actually shot the movie in one take. There is no modification. When asked what would happen if a take was screwed up, Raimi said, “You start over from page one, and it was quite a challenge, but it turned out great.”

Raimi continued, “The scenario was very attractive because there are no cuts; it’s an hour and a half and no cuts. And I felt able to do something like that because I trained in theater first… I knew I was capable of things that some actors trained exclusively in film, who can be fantastic actors, would get tired after 10 or 20 minutes without acting break. It might be challenging and it doesn’t mean you’re a bad actor for not being able to do it, but it’s very similar to the difference between doing supported push-ups and supported walking.

The actor went on to talk about his character in the film and his part in the story: “Well, I’ll tell you this. He chooses murder, but that doesn’t mean that financial ruin is achieved or not. Now, he chooses, but that doesn’t mean he gets what he wants. I’ll leave it at that. There is still a mystery there. It’s really a character study more than anything about a man and his family and it decides in a pretty extreme and extraordinary way. If you love your children, how do you help, save, and provide for them? It’s an age-old dramatic question. Along with this, there are, I think, elements of Shakespearean tragedy. There is a father figure who helps him a lot in the vein of Hamlet, or even going further back to the Greeks. It could be Antigone, if I’m not mistaken, who has these father figures helping a character to a cliff in their lives trying to go one way or the other. And depending on which fork that character takes will change everything. There are also some nice classic and interesting stuff. I can tease you about this.

In an interview with Variety, Raimi opened up about Alief’s pick of the film, saying, “With Alief, I can’t wait for fans to see me in a different light; still black and morbid, but now also dramatic.

Alief President Brett Walker he added, “We are thrilled to represent Alex Kahuam’s brilliant genre thriller with a tour de force performance by the one and only Ted Raimi.”

Well, it looks like it’s going to be a great movie and I can’t wait to watch it when it comes out!
