Arnold Schwarzenegger AND Danny DeVito they were set to star in a sequel to their 1988 comedy Twins. The film was titled TripletsAND Tracy Morgan he would play their third brother.
In 2021 it was revealed that the director of the original film, Ivan Reitmann (ghost Buster) would return for the sequel, which the screenplay was written by Dylan Dawson AND Luke Kavner. The movie was supposed to be filmed in Boston, as unlikely brothers Julian (Schwarzenegger) and Vincent (DeVito) discover they are part of a trio.
As you know, however, Ivan Reitman tragically passed away in February of 2022 and, according to Schwarzenegger, later, Jason Reitmann pulled the plug on the film. She shared in an interview with THR:
“Jason Reitman literally stopped the project when his father died. His father really wanted to do it. I really wanted to do it. Danny DeVito really wanted to do it. We had the funding. When his father died, Jason says, ‘I never liked the idea’ and withheld it”.
While everyone was excited to make the movie except Reitman, I guess we won’t see that movie get made. I’m sure all the actors will be fine, though. Schwarzenegger, DeVito and Morgan will have no problem continuing to find work.
Probably everyone just wanted the opportunity to work together again. Talking about working with DeVito, Schwarzenegger said, “He’s a lot of fun to work with and he’s very talented.” Maybe they’ll find another project to do together.
Speaking earlier about the film, Ivan Reitman said, “Secretly, a third child was born, a black child, who hasn’t been in contact with his siblings. They don’t know each other and very early in the film they meet and that’s how they bond together after all these years. It’s really a film about family, and no matter how different we are, we have to learn to get along. These guys have great chemistry together, and you can see it in the coil and how much energy they pull out of each other.
