Orlando Bloom Earned Just 5,000 for Starring in THE LORD OF THE RINGS Trilogy

Actor Orlando Bloom is a famous and highly respected actor, best known for playing Legolas in Beloved The Lord of the Rings trilogy. But before he made it big as everyone’s favorite elf, the actor was just starting out and still wasn’t making the kind of salary many of his co-stars were making.

Bloom recently discussed what he went through to land the role during an appearance on Howard Stern SiriusXM broadcast.

“I auditioned many times. Originally for the role of Faramir. Then I got a call from the Hubbards in London, great casting agents. Roz Hubbard said, “I think you could do anything.” I was like, ‘Yes!’ It was a vote of confidence that was so inspiring.”

Bloom continued:

“They brought me back for Legolas. I had been on tape for that role, and re-taped for Legolas,” adding that he shot the films for 18 months in New Zealand after getting consent and “went back for takes here and there.”

Stern then noted the fact that because Bloom was cast in the productions of the films as an unknown talent, he wasn’t paid an exorbitant amount. “I got nothing. 175k,” he said, before adding his appreciation of him despite the low fare: “Listen, the greatest gift of my life. I’d do it again for half the money.

It’s great that he had such an epic trilogy of films as his big break. Too bad he didn’t manage to collect it!
