Filmmaker Tim Burton is the subject of an upcoming four-part documentary series

Director Tim Burton he’s led quite an interesting life and has made some incredibly funny and unique movies throughout his career. Since I’ve seen Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure, I have been a fan of the director. His storytelling and his visual style just connected with me.

It was recently announced that Burton is the subject of an upcoming four-part documentary series, and the series promises “an otherworldly, dreamlike journey into the mind” of the creative artist behind other films like Cockroach juice, Edward scissor hands, Batman, Batman returns, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Ed Wood, Empty asleepand more.

It explains: “Tim continues to build his aesthetic, Burton-esque style, derived from a wealth of artistic, film and literary genres. The documentary explores how Burton brings his vision to life through his joyful idiosyncrasy and his ability to blend the sinister and scary with a sense of whimsy. Tim’s films are just the tip of the iceberg”.

The project will feature interviews with many of Burton’s key film collaborators, including Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder, Jenna Ortegacomposer Danny Elfo, Christopher Walken, Danny DeVito, Mia WasikowskaAND Christopher Waltz. The docuseries will also contain never-before-seen footage.

Depp said in a statement: “The most important director who has completely changed my life is Tim. In the beginning, he’s the guy who fought for me.

The film will be directed by Tara Wood (Quentin Tarantino QT8: The Top Eight), and said, “In the making of this paper, Tim’s creative family, a gaggle of creative geniuses, welcomed me with open hearts and enthusiasm to share their profound insights into Tim’s unique and magical world. And it was a truly inspiring, joyful and life changing experience. Whatever you do or where you come from, Tim’s story will inspire you.”

Executive producer Liz Tang adds, “Tim Burton is a legendary author and artist with such a rich and distinctive body of work, spanning from the 80s to the present day – from blockbuster films like Edward Scissorhands, Alice in Wonderland marvels, Batman and Beetlejuice, to his latest record-breaking Netflix TV show Wednesday, which is now gearing up for a second season – he truly is a household name and a global cultural icon. His eclectic gothic charm introduced through animation, stop motion, sketches, poetry, live action films and everything in between has influenced generations of creators – and this definitive 4-part docuseries will be a beautifully crafted journey in his creative process, told through the eyes of the A-listers closest to him whose careers he helped shape.
