Michael Cera joins Wes Anderson’s next film project

AS Wes Andersonthe upcoming movie City of Asteroids is about to be released, the director is already moving forward with his next film project, and according to Jeff Sneider of The Hot Mic podcast, Michael Cera has already been cast in the film. He said:

“Reliable sources have told me that Wes Anderson has begun casting for his next film and that the first cast member is, in fact, one Michael Cera. This time Michael Cera will actually star in Wes Anderson’s film.

Cera was attached to star in Anderson’s new film City of Asteroids, but ended up not doing it. I’m actually surprised it took Cera this long to join a Wes Anderson movie because those are the kinds of movies she would fit right into. When he asked for more information about Anderson’s next project, Sneider said:

“I don’t have a title. I don’t have a logline. I got nothing. All I know is that Michael Cera, who has been trying to get into Asteroid City, will star in what will be his next film.

After Astroid City is released, Anderson has one more film ready to go with The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar. Then there’s this mystery project. I’ve been a fan of Anderson’s work ever since Bottle rocketand I can’t wait to see what the next movie is.

Astroid City is set in a fictional American desert town in 1955. In the story, “the itinerary of a Junior Stargazer/Space Cadet convention (organized to bring together students and parents from all over the country for fellowship and academic competition) is spectacularly disrupted from the world- changing events”.

That world-changing event is the arrival of an alien. I definitely like Anderson’s cinematic and storytelling style and he always puts together a great cast! This includes Jason Schwartzmann, Scarlett Johansson, Jeffrey Wright, Tilda SwintonAND Tom Hankswith Sophia Lillis, Bryan Cranston, Edward Norton, Adrian Brody, Liev Schreiber, Hope Davis, Stephen Park, Friend Rupert, Maya Hawke, Steve Carell, Matt Dillon, Hong Chau, Willem Dafoe, Margot Robbie, Toni Revolori, Jake Ryan, Fisher Stevens, Rita Wilson, Jarvis CockerAND Jeff Goldblum. I’m surprised Bill Murray it has nothing to do with it!

City of Asteroids will be released in theaters on June 17, 2023.
