Maxwell atoms is an American animator probably best known for creating The Sad Adventures of Billy and Mandy for Cartoon Network. The show was fun to watch and definitely has a sizable fan base. In a recent Tumblr post, Atoms announced that it is planning to start a new animation project in the wake of the WGA strike. He shares that he’s torn between two projects right now, one of which is more kid-friendly but not just made for kids, while the other is definitely adult-oriented as a dark comedy. Here is Atoms post:
With the animation industry in disarray and the WGA on strike, it looks like a sluggish year for entertainment.
So I’ll do one thing.
It will be a “cheap and easy” thing (at least by my standards) geared towards publishing more content with less quality. Call it the “Hanna-Barbera effect.”
I’m picking a couple of projects out of which one is a kids show and one is an adult show. The children’s show would ideally fall under the Billy & Mandy range “for more than just for kids”. The adult show would be a very dark comedy. My current plan would be to put whatever I choose on YouTube.
I know it’s incredibly vague so far, but is there one you’d rather see than the other? Part of the decision will depend on which (children or adults) seems less like a nightmare and is less likely to get me demonetized. But I definitely want to keep you all involved!
Sadly, Atoms doesn’t provide any more insight into what would happen on either show, but no matter what, I’m sure fans will be excited to check it out. Can’t wait to see what Atoms has to offer?
