‘American Idol’ Recap: Top 8 Revealed After Judges Save a Performer

The competition doesn’t give up american idol. The top 10 vie once again for the American vote and two singers will be sent home at the end of the night. The May 1 episode is also the judges’ song contest.

Zechariah blacksmith is the first and choose “Wanted Dead or Alive” from Happy Jupiter. Zachariah always brings electricity to the stage. Zechariah wants Lucas Bryan chose this song for him, but it really was Lionel Richie! Lionel thinks Zachariah did a “fantastic” job and Luke calls the performance “incredible”.

He also wants to see Oliver play guitar more because he adds an extra element to his playing than he does.

Lionel is the one who chose this song because of it. “I was really glad you did it the way you did. It was wonderful,” he says. Luke praises that this performance was Marybeth’s “highlight”. And he adds, “This is what we needed to see from you.”

Tyson Venegas Step out of your comfort zone and sing an emotional song for the first time. She shines in her rendition of “Someone You Loved” by Lewis Capaldi. “That was exactly what I wanted to see from him,” Katy says, confirming that she chose the song for Tyson. “You are the complete package for me now,” she adds.

Megan Daniella dazzles with his powerful rendition of house of vince gil “Go Rest High On That Mountain”, the same song he sang at his grandfather’s funeral. Luke chose this song for her. “You were perfect,” she enthuses. Lionel tells Megan that he has “an amazing ability to play. His voice is so powerful when it comes to just telling his story.”

Katy officially wins the judges’ song contest. Now there are the results. The first person to reach the top 7 is Megan, followed by Haven, Warren, Wé, Colin and Iam. There is only one spot left and Zachariah is the last person to make the top 7. Oliver, Marybeth and Tyson are in the bottom three.

Since Katy won the contest, she gets to choose an artist to save. She consults the judges and they choose to save Oliver and make him in the top 8. This means Marybeth and Tyson are eliminated.
