THE FLASH Director Andy Muschietti talks about the possibility of a sequel

I recently had the opportunity to see The flash while at CinemaCon and this DC film truly offers something special. The movie was so damn good! The last hour in particular was a great movie experience, especially if you’re a DC fan.

After watching this movie and seeing how the story unfolds, I honestly don’t know how anyone could follow it up with a sequel that could reach the level this movie set. But, director Andy Muschietti he’s excited about the opportunity to continue the story if DC Studios greenlights it.

After the screening of the film took place, Muschietti participated in a Q&A with his producer/sister, Barbara Muschietti. When asked about a potential sequel, the director said he “hasn’t talked about it” with DC Studios and that the continuation is all down to who makes the first film at the box office.

“I think we’re all waiting to see how this movie does. Sure, there’s excitement in continuing the story, especially if this movie is successful. Of course, there is an architecture in DC that is being prepared and being created. And the question is: will this new architecture absorb this history?

Muschietti goes on to say that he thinks the introduction of the multiverse opens the door for another installment:

“The good thing about the multiverse is that it’s possible. The multiverse allows for all these different worlds to coexist and interact, and so hopefully, yeah, I mean, we don’t know yet. It is the truth.”

If a sequel is made, I really hope Muschietti has some good ideas that can match what he did with this first film. It will be tough!

In the movie, “Worlds Collide The flash when Barry uses his superpowers to travel back in time to change the events of the past. But when her attempt to save his family inadvertently alters the future, Barry is trapped in a reality where General Zod has returned, threatening annihilation, and there are no superheroes to turn to. That is, unless Barry can convince a very different Batman to come out of retirement and rescue an imprisoned Kryptonian… though not the one he’s after. In the end, to save the world he’s in and return to the future he knows, Barry’s only hope is to run for his life. But will the ultimate sacrifice be enough to reset the universe?”

The film is also the protagonist Ezra Miller plays Barry Allen, aka The Flash, Michael Keatonwho’s back as Batman, Ben Affleck like Batman, e Michael Shannon like Zod, with Ron Livingstone AND Maribel Verdu who play Barry’s parents. Saoirse-Monica Jackson (Derry girls) and Internet personality Rudy Mancuso will also appear.

The flash will be released on June 16, 2023.
