While at the Sundance Film Festival this year, I saw a super funny supernatural comedy called Onyx the Fortuitous and the Talisman of Souls. The film comes from YouTube content creator Weird Satanist Guy aka Andrew Bowserand stars in and directs the film.

Cinedigm has acquired the North American rights to the horror comedy film and it has been announced that it will be released in theaters this fall, which is pretty cool! I didn’t think this film would be released in theaters.
Bowser takes on the role of amateur occultist Marcus J. Trillbury, aka Onyx the Fortuitous, and he’s struggling. “He’s misunderstood at home and at work, but his dreams of a new life seem to be fulfilled when he receives a coveted invitation to the home of his idol Bartok the Great for a ritual to awaken the spirit of an ancient demon. He excitedly joins Bartok and his eclectic group of devotees as they prepare for the ceremony, but pretty quickly it becomes apparent that all is not as it seems. As Onyx and his new friends fight to keep their souls, he must decide what he’s truly willing to sacrifice to meet his destiny.
In my review of the film, I said: “The film is exactly what you’d expect from a boy, and it’s filled with Bowser’s signature comedic style. It’s just deliciously goofy, supernatural fun! With all the dark and depressing movies I watch at Sundance, this is the kind of movie that makes me breathe a little and discover the joy of watching movies once again.”
The film also stars Jeffrey Combs, Barbara Crampton, Ralph Ineson, Rivkah Reyes, TC Carson, Arden Myrin AND Melanie Chandra.
