During the Warner Bros. CinemaCon presentation this week, the studio unveiled a new trailer for its upcoming film Wonkawhich is a prequel to the classic 1971 Gene Wilder film Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Timothee Chalamet plays Willy Wonka, and I’m still not convinced of his role. I want to rave about this movie but this latest trailer failed to capture my interest. Mark Hamill and his Return of the Jedi helix lightsaber reunite in Pop Culture Quest Clip
The new film is based on the classic characters created by Roald Daland the story will focus on a young Willy Wonka and his adventures before opening the most famous chocolate factory in the world.
Neil Hannon of the band The Divine Comedy is writing original songs for the prequel, e Paul King he’s directing from a script he wrote with Paddington 2 co-author Simone Farnaby.
The film is also the protagonist Matthew Bayton (Ghosts), Olivia Colmann (The Favourite), Tom Davis (Paddington 2), Simone Farnaby (THE Paddington movie), Sally Hawkins (The shape of water), Rich Fulcher (Marriage history), Kobna Holdbrook-Smith (Paddington 2), Paterson Joseph (Zeros + Crosses), Emmy and Peabody Award winner Keegan-Michael Key (Schmigadoon!), Cala Lane (The day will come), Matthew Luke (Paddington), Colin O’Brien (The mothership), Natasha Rothwell (The White Lotus), Rakhee Thakrar (Sex education), Rowan Atkinson (Mr. Bean), Jim Carter (Downton Abbey), AND Eli White (The other one).
Wonka will be released in theaters on March 17, 2023.
