Spider-Man: Through the Spider-Verse will include a huge amount of characters with over 240 of them running and swinging across five separate universes. This gave the filmmakers a lot of wiggle room with regards to voice casting, and it turns out that there are secret cameos in the film that not even the main cast members know about!

During a recent interview with Total Film, director Joaquim Dos Santos confirmed that Scarlet Spider, a clone from the comics, will appear in the film. He goes on to say, “I can’t wait for people to hear who voices him. He hasn’t been released yet, but I love our Scarlet Spider actor.”
When asked to offer a hint as to who the actor was, the director shared that it’s so secret that not even the cast know! He said: ‘Not even the actors know! They’re all sworn to secrecy and they’re recording themselves, so most of them are finding out with the audience who’s in the movie they’re making. Their reactions have been quite hilarious”.
The filmmakers go on to say that there are plenty of unexpected appearances in store and the filmmakers still have a couple of months of secrecy ahead. Kemp Powers teases: “My favorite cameo is… a secret! But I promise it will blow your eyeballs out the back of your head.”
It’s all so damn exciting! I am so excited about this film and have no doubts that the creative team behind it will produce an amazing sequel! I recently saw 14 minutes of the film at CinemaCon and was completely blown away! I also love the footage I’ve seen from the trailers.
The film follows Miles Morales as the friendly Brooklyn neighborhood Spider-Man, “immersed in the multiverse where he joins forces with Gwen Stacy and a new team of Spider-folk to take on a villain more powerful than anything they’ve ever encountered.” .
After reuniting with Gwen Stacy, “the friendly Brooklyn neighborhood Spider-Man is catapulted across the Multiverse, where he meets a team of Spider-People charged with protecting his very existence. But when the heroes clash over how to handle a new threat, Miles finds himself pitted against the other Spiders and must redefine what it means to be a hero so he can save the people he loves most.
The cast also includes Shameik Moore as Miles Morales, Hailee Steinfeld like Gwen, Brian Tiree Henry as Miles’ father, Jefferson Davis; Luna Lauren Velez as Miles’ mom, Rio Morales; Issa Rae as Jessica Drew, aka Spider-Woman; Jorma Taccone as Vulture; Rachel Dratch; Shea Whigham; Greta Lee; AND Jason Schwartzmann like Blur.
The film will be released on June 2, 2023!
