Tom Cruise’s secret to doing his own hardcore death-defying stunts: 50 pairs of thong underwear

Tom Cruise is undoubtedly the biggest star in Hollywood. He’s known around the world, almost everyone can name at least a couple of his favorite films, and at 60, the four-time Oscar-nominated actor is still churning out blockbusters and shows no signs of slowing down.

Cruise is widely known as something of a weird guy. While he’s been known to spend hours on the red carpet signing autographs, taking pictures, and recording messages on people’s phones, he’s also known to be a Scientologist who jumps on Oprah’s couch and is generally super intense. In his autobiography The outsiders co-star, Rob Lowethe actor wrote about meeting Cruise for the first time, and said that even as a young adult, Cruise knew exactly what he wanted from the industry and his career, settling for nothing less.

It obviously paid off, but as Cruise has made his mark on the action movie genre over the last few decades, the actor has an on-set quirk that is just plain weird and hilarious!

In a recent BuzzFeed article, it is explained that when Cruise is working on one of his death-defying stunts in the action films he is known for, he is most comfortable performing these feats in “G-string or thong thanks to the soft elastic material.”

Since figuring this works best for Cruise, she has her movies’ wardrobe departments stock about 50 thongs so she always has a fresh one to jump into when she needs it.

This is a headache for me. I’ve never thought of a thong when I think of the pinnacle of comfort. But to each his own! If that’s what makes Cruise jump higher and fly further, Godspeed.
