“When you wake the dead, the further you travel, the riskier your journey becomes.” This warning appears in the official (and yes, spooky) trailer Treacherous: the red doorthe fifth installment in the popular horror franchise released today by Sony Pictures.
Patrick Wilson, making his film debut, is one of the familiar faces returning for the sequels to Insidious and Insidious: Chapter 2, alongside Rose Byrne, Ty Simpkins and Andrew Astor.
The new cast includes Sinclair Daniel, Peter Dager and Hiam Abbass.
According to Sony’s official logline: “In Insidious: The Red Door, The original cast of the horror franchise returns for the final chapter of the Lambert family’s horrific saga. To put their demons to rest once and for all, Josh (Wilson) and a middle-aged Dalton (Simpkins) must delve deeper than ever into The Further, uncovering their family’s dark past and a host of new and more horrific horrors. behind the red door.
Produced by Jason Blum for Blumhouse Productions with franchise creators James Wan and Leigh Whannell, and Oren Peli, the film opens ten years later Insidious: Chapter 2. Wilson will direct from a script by Scott Teems and a story by Wannell.
Screen Gems and Sony Pictures’ Stage 6 Films will release the film in theaters on July 7, 2023.
The Treacherous The film franchise has grossed over half a billion dollars worldwide, with the fourth film grossing $167 million worldwide – the franchise’s biggest hit. Released internationally by Sony Pictures in 2018, Treacherous: The Last Key, became the first film in the horror franchise to surpass $100 million overseas.
