Ben Affleck says his line in the movie BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER was dubbed because it was so bad

Ben Affleck he is a two time Oscar winning director and an actor who has played some amazing characters. But before all that, he started out in small parts against the background of films like Field of dreams AND Buffy the Vampire Slayer. The latter role was the actor’s first speaking part as “Basketball Player #10,” but as it turns out, the actor’s one line wasn’t exactly award-worthy, to say the least.

Affleck was recently asked by James Corden if he’d ever been fired from a role before, to which the actor replied that he’d often been fired from projects as a teenager due to his unfortunate “lateness problem.” Affleck learned his lesson, but he did mention a moment where his lines were cut from a movie, even though he thought he gave a tremendous performance.

The actor was 20 when he scored one of his first movie roles as ‘Basketball Player #10’ in 1992 Buffy the Vampire Slayer, the film that inspired the television series. “I got a joke … it was for a basketball player,” she told Corden. The character of him was supposed to offer the ball to a werewolf who was running around the gym. He explained:

“I felt it. I felt genuinely scared. And then I went to see the movie with friends… and it sounded very different. And I realized right then that they re-recorded my line. i was so bad. They needed me on the scene, but the director [Fran Rubel Kuzui] Obviously [was like], ‘I can’t hear my voice anymore!’ They had to pay someone to come in and say, “Hey man, get it.” Because apparently, I couldn’t say that convincingly enough.

Well obviously he’s been taking acting lessons since then and has definitely gotten better! It’s fun to hear about his humble beginnings, though. Affleck’s latest film Airis currently in theaters.
