Kristen Stewart (Spencer), Michael Angarano (this is us), Michael Cera (Juno), AND Maya Erskine (pen15) are all set to star in a new road comedy titled Sacrament. Angarano is directing the film, from a script he co-wrote with Chris Smithand filming will begin this spring.

The film’s story follows Rickey (Angarano), “a free-spirited, energetic young man, and Glenn (Cera), his longtime friend who has settled into domestic life. During an impromptu road trip from Los Angeles to Sacramento, their past comes into focus and questions their future.
Erskine will play Rickey’s wife Tallie and Stewart will play Glenn’s wife Rosie. Other cast members include wrestler-turned-author and screenwriter AJ Mendez (Blade of the 47 Ronin), Iman Karram (Stupid state) AND Rosalind Chao (Mulan). Mendez and Karam “will play best friends and former pro fighters who help teach Rickey and Glenn about their relationship.”
Angarano said in a statement, “We are grateful and very excited to be making a film like Sacramento. Chris Smith and I started writing this film years ago after one of our pilots didn’t pick up. We are honored to work with this extremely talented cast and crew led by Stephen of the Bee-Hive, who is not only a great partner, but a true collaborator. It’s been quite a journey already, but we’re finally ready to shoot a movie.”
Angarano and Stewart previously starred together in the 2004 drama Speak. Angarano will soon play Robert Serber, in Christopher Nolan’S Oppenheimerand also stars in Kevin Costner’s western Horizon. Stewart recently wrapped production on the thriller A24 Love is bleeding. Cera is currently acting opposite Amy Schumer in the Hulu series Life & Bet and will soon be seen in Warner Bros’ Barbie.
