Sony puts an end to ‘El Muerto’ the Spiderman spin-off with Bad Bunny

For some time now, Sony has been developing its own Universe of Marvel characters, drawing on the villains of Spider-Man and supporting characters like Kraven The Hunter and Madame Web. However, it seems that ‘El Muerto’, a film announced in April last year with Bad Bunny as the protagonistremained in limbo with a large stop that could be the harbinger of a definitive cancellation.

Despite the fact that the release date is only a few months away, production has not yet started and it seems that Sony is not actively working on it. The urban singer, who has also turned into an actor as part of his career, revealed to Time in an interview that production is “paralysed”though its publicist later corrected that it was “in development,” but without a release date.

El Muerto is a villain who has only appeared in three creepy-crawly comics, created by Peter David and Roger Cruz. This is Juan Carlos Estrada Sanchez, a wrestling celebrity who fought Spider-Man in a charity match. Though he nearly succeeded in unmasking the superhero, he was incapacitated by a crippling poison, but the solo film seems a long way off.

Sony has “El Muerto” planned for its universe

It’s understandable that Bad Bunny fans and Marvel movie fans are eager to know more about this project. However, it looks like they’ll have to wait a little longer before Sony decides to move forward with production, or finally make a decision about the future of the character in his universe.

Sony has ambitious plans for its universe of Marvel characters, and while some films have already been announced and are in production, others appear to be in limbo. It is possible that the lack of news about ‘El Muerto’ is due to the fact that the company has decided to focus on other projects at this time.

Let’s hope Sony clarifies soon what will happen to the film of ‘The death’ and if it’s finally going to be a reality and we’re going to see Bad Bunny become this character. Until then, fans will have to keep waiting and speculating on what could have happened to bring this project to a halt.
