EXCLUSIVE: After spending the past year impressing terrifying audiences and wonderful critics, pearl And X Star Mia Goth appears ready to bring her talents to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as sources tell Deadline she is set to join Mahershala Ali at Marvel Studios. Sheet.
Yann Demange will direct the film, with Michael Starrbury on board to write the script and Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige to produce. Ali plays the title role.
Marvel could not be reached for comment.
Plot details are currently unknown, as is who would play Goth.
Plans for a new incarnation of the character Blade, played by Wesley Snipes in a string of films in the early 2000s, were revealed during Marvel’s sensory presentation at San Diego Comic-Con in 2019.
Created by Marv Wolfman and Gene Colan as a supporting character, Blade first appeared in Tomb of Dracula NO. 10 in 1973 and became a cult favorite. He is a human-vampire hybrid as his mother was bitten and killed by a leech during childbirth. The character rose to stardom in the ’90s when New Line adapted the Snipes on Board comic to star and spawned two sequels after the hit film.
Goth had a great year starting with the A24 horror flick Xwith the sequel pearl Premiere a few months later. Goth shines in both, but reigns supreme pearl where she gave such a good performance that awards pundits started discussing a possible Best Actress nominee. She also received strong reviews in the film Sundance Midnight infinity pool.
She is represented by WME, Curtis Brown Group and Storm Artists Management.
