When asked about the new movie with Daisy RidleyRey, Kennedy said he called Ridley to show up at the event, saying:

“It was a pretty straightforward phone call. I started out by just saying, “Hey, I think we’re getting close to being ready.” We talked a lot about what we’re doing in the film space and I said, “I think we’re getting closer to being ready.” How about going to Celebration?’ This was really the beginning. She was beside herself with excitement.

He went on to offer an update on the future of a Rian Johnson- directed project, saying:

“Rian and I talk all the time. He’s incredibly busy. So we’re not actively involved in anything at the moment because he’s doing another one of the ‘Glass Onion’ movies and then God knows what else. But he really wants to go back to space. It’s a big time commitment, so it’s really on him.

Taika Waititi he is also working on a standalone film in the Star Wars universe. Kennedy provided an update on that as well.

“Taika is still working. He’s writing the script himself. He really doesn’t want to involve others in that process and I don’t blame him. He has a very unique voice. So we want to protect him and that’s what he’s doing. But we will one day.”

Kennedy also filed an inquiry into a potential second season of the series Obi-Wan Kenobi to Disney+, as some fans pushed for a later adventure Ewan McGregorhe is the iconic Jedi.

“This is not an active development. But I never say never, because there is always the possibility. That show was so well received and [director] Deborah Chow has done such a spectacular job. Ewan McGregor really wants to make another one. Everyone is all on board with what we’re doing right now, as you can see from what we’ve been showing everyone [at the Celebration]. We’ll turn our attention to this again perhaps down the road.
