Tony winner Laura Benanti reveals she performed on stage during a miscarriage;  Thank you audience for the support

Broadway and TV actress Laura Benanti has revealed that she took to the stage earlier this week despite knowing she had suffered a miscarriage.

The Tony Award winner wrote on Instagram that she decided to go on stage in front of 2,000 people after realizing the symptoms the night before.

And Benanti thanked everyone, including the audience that night, for their support. She said she disclosed her situation not to gain sympathy, but in the hope that it would help other people going through the same experience.

Benanti has been nominated for and won a total of five Tonys for her theater work Gypsy in 2008 and has also appeared on TV shows Nashville And super girl.

She recently appeared on HBO Max’s gossip girl (2021) reboot and in Netflix’s Value (2020). She reprized her role in the final season of the TV series younger (2015) and co-starred with Billy Crystal and Tiffany Haddish in the comedy Here Today (2021).

At the time of her miscarriage, she was performing in front of 2,000 people on a Broadway-themed cruise with actors Alan Cumming and Jeremy Jordan.
