Netflix has released a trailer for an upcoming political drama titled The diplomat. The series is the protagonist Keri Russell as Kate Wyler, who lands the job of the new US Ambassador to the UK during an international crisis and war, and it’s a job she’s not suited for, with tectonic implications for her marriage and political future .

The synopsis reveals that “Kate Wyler was supposed to go to Afghanistan. She’s great in a crisis zone. In a historic home… less so. War is brewing on one continent and simmering on another. Kate will have to diffuse international crises, forge strategic alliances in London and adjust to her new place in the spotlight, all while trying to survive her marriage to fellow career diplomat and political star Hal Wyler (Rufus Sewell).
The series comes from the creator and showrunner Deborah Cahn (The West Wing, Grey’s Anatomy, Homeland), and is also the protagonist Rufus Sewell, David Gyasi, Ali Ah, Rory KinnearAND Ato Essandoh; guests included Celia Imrie, Michael McKean, Nana MensaAND T’Nia Miller.
The diplomat will premiere on Netflix on April 20, 2023.
