There is much excited anticipation for this film, and while fans are excited to see how the story unfolds and how it concludes, they are also wondering who will die in the film! Gunn previously joked: “We know most of them will make it out alive. At least for two films.”
I think the big twist of the story would be if all the heroes survived! It would definitely make the fans happy. But it definitely doesn’t look good for Rocket Raccoon, which is who the story will revolve around.
At Marvel Studios Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, “Our beloved band of misfits are settling into Knowhere, but it’s not long before their lives are upended by echoes from Rocket’s turbulent past. Peter Quill, still reeling from the loss of Gamora, must rally his team around him on a perilous mission to save Rocket’s life – a mission which, if not successfully completed, could lead to the end of the Guardians as we know them. “
Gunn has previously talked about Rocket and how that character is the reason he returned to make this third film. He explained:
“One of the reasons I came back to [make] this film was because I felt I had to tell the story of Rocket. I would have really regretted not completing the trilogy for many reasons, but I feel very connected to Rocket. I feel like no one would be able to tell the full story about him if it weren’t me.
“To me, Rocket has always been the secret protagonist of the Guardians movies. From the beginning, it’s been ingrained in who he is as a character. I think he exemplifies a lot of the traits of all Guardians. They’ve had all these traumas, and it brings them together. .I just think his is more extreme than others.
“He was totally fine being an animal, and he was transformed into something else he didn’t want to be. I think the transformation itself was extremely painful, but I also think it made him feel incredibly alienated from everyone else. In vol. 3, we learn a lot about his past: where he’s from, who he is and what he’s been through. It’s been a rough road for the little animal.
Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will be released in US theaters on May 5.
