Suddenly, Sophie crashes her car by accidentally rear-ending the car in front of her. She gets out of the car to assess her damage. In the future, Sophie’s son asks who Barney is. “We’ll get there soon,” he jokes.

The midseason finale of season 2 picks up where the scene in the first left off. Barney reveals that he now wears an STD shock therapy device on his leg that electrocutes him whenever he utters problematic words and phrases. There’s still the fender situation and Barney tells Sophie that he doesn’t have to pay for the car if her possible relationship story with her father goes well.

They have a frank discussion about their parents. Barney also shows Sophie a daughter photo of her. He says Ellie is “the best thing that ever happened to an idiot like me”.

Jesse said they got the post “from an old couple who posted it in Wesleyan’s alumni group”. That “old couple” is Marshall and Lily. The couple left the apartment pending the arrival of their third child.

Carl the bartender appears how i met your father at the end of season 1. He is at MacLaren’s bar when Robin and Sophie meet. Joe Nieves appeared in 19 episodes of how I Met Your Mother.

The Captain and Becky

Kyle McLachlan reappeared inside how i met your father as George Van Smoot aka El Capitan in Season 1 Episode 9. El Capitan was last seen in the ninth season of how I Met Your Motherand was engaged to Becky (Laura Campana Bundy) at the moment. She catches him cheating when they show up how i met your father.
