Director Joe Cornish and actor John Boyega they talked about doing Attack block 2 for years, and fans would like to finally jump in and get it done! That first movie was so good; it was just such an insanely funny movie, and it’s hard not to think what these characters would have done after all these years after the insane experience of fighting off an alien invasion.

Boyega previously offered an update on the film saying, “We’re pretty close. We’re getting there. Obviously, we don’t want to release dates to anyone because we want to take care of the creative process. We have the main backbone of the story, but we’re still in the lab, just making sure the story is right. History is everything. But it won’t take long. I gave them drums to speed up the process. I hope we’ll have an announcement soon for when we’re out and about in London, messing around.”
Now, in a recent interview with Total Film, the actor discussed understanding his character Moses and how he thinks about what he would have been like up until now. The adult version of the character that we will eventually see in the sequel describes her as a “damn drug.” He said:
“It’s a character that I really understand. In creating him when I was younger, I really understand where he is now. He’s the character that has stuck with me the longest. Every year I was like, ‘I wonder what Moses is doing now.’ So I go back and think this version of Moses, if people can think of everything he’s been through, is damn damn stupid.
It will be interesting to see what kind of story this sequel will tell. There are no details yet, but Boyega previously said it will take place in south London, in a version that has gentrified from the events of the first film. He said: “We go back and look at the places where we shot the first film – once disreputable areas – and find that they are all shiny, luxury apartments and Starbucks.” He explained that he “always wanted the opportunity to go back to London and shoot something big”.
As for what Cornish is thinking, he explained in an interview that he wants the sequel to be as successful as the classic films. aliens AND Terminator 2. He explained:
“The nice thing about the first movie was that nobody expected it. Nobody knew who John was [Boyega] it was or who I was, certainly, outside of UK comedy circles. And we worked hard on the first one! Of course, I can make things up about aliens pretty easily, but the other stuff — the aspects of reality that we’ve twisted the fantasy into — we’ve done a lot of research, and so we’re currently doing the same thing. We’ve got a very detailed treatment and storyline that we’re very, very excited about – and when I say “we”, I mean John Boyega and I, who [I’m co-producing the film with] and we’ve consulted closely with — and we’re doing all the research to make sure we get it right.
“This same afternoon I spent two hours interviewing someone whose life intersects with an element of the story, and when we’re done here I’ll go home and transcribe it. So, we’re doing our due diligence in constructing the script and taking the same amount care we had with the first one, but we’re very, very confident and excited about what we have. We think about ‘Alien’ and ‘Aliens’ and ‘Terminator’ and ‘Terminator 2,’ and want to try and make our own version of what people did for those movies.”
With Cornish and Boyega still talking about this sequel, hopefully it happens! I would have been fine without a sequel, but since they’re constantly talking about it, now I need to see their vision come to life!
