The story is set in the late 70s in Los Angeles and will center on a female protagonist. There are no official story details to share, but THR has an idea what it could be about.

The report said the story could focus on Pauline Kael, “one of the most influential film critics of all time. Kael, who died in 2001, was not only a critic but also an essayist and novelist. She was known for her feuds with editors and cinematographers.

The report goes on to explain that in the late 1970s, “Kael had a very brief tenure working as a consultant for Paramount, a position he accepted at the behest of actor Warren Beatty. The timing of that job at Paramount seems to coincide with the setting of the script – and the director is known to have a deep respect for Kael, making the odds more likely that she will be the subject of the film.

While this is unconfirmed, it could very well be what the story is based on. It would make perfect sense if it was, and if it wasn’t I’m sure we’ll find out soon enough.

The film isn’t set up in a studio yet, it could be rolling out to studios or buyers as early as this week. Sony Pictures is considered the frontrunner and previously distributed Tarantinio Once upon a time in Hollywood.

Tarantino has been saying for years that he would retire from making movies after his tenth film, and it seems that time has come. That doesn’t mean he won’t stop creating with TV shows and books, but with movies, he might actually say goodbye to making them.

Tarantino previously told Playboy in 2012: “I want to stop at a certain point. Directors don’t get better as they get older. Usually the worst films in their filmography are the last four in the end. I deal with my filmography, and one bad film makes three good ones. I don’t want that bad, out-of-this-world comedy in my filmography, the movie that makes people think, “Oh man, he still thinks it’s been 20 years.” When directors become obsolete, it’s not pretty.

He also said, “I’m going to stop at 10 … Although at 75, if I had this other story to tell, it would still work because that would make that 10. They would be there and it would be that. But what he did when he was a fucking old, geriatric one exists completely on its own in the nursing home and is never put on the same shelf next to the other 10. So it doesn’t contaminate the other 10.”

So, what do you think of Tarantino looking to wrap up his career as a feature film director? The film critic?
