Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson is set to produce a new original series titled Deputy City with John Wick director Chad Stahelski as executive producer and director.
This series is not based on the Grand Theft Auto: Vice City video game, this series is based on an original idea by the writers and executive producers Darnell Metayer (Transformers: Rise of the Beasts) AND Josh Peters (Transformers: Rise of the Beasts), along with production from Lionsgate Television and Paramount Television Studios.
Deputy City follows “three friends and ex-soldiers who return to their hometown of Miami in the mid-1980s after being dishonorably discharged from the military for their involvement in the Iran Contra scandal. Wretched, displaced and forgotten by the country they served and with no good job prospects, the three friends team up with a mysterious Colombian immigrant, combining their financial needs and criminal ambitions to form a gang of robbers. Fueled by the need for American green, they travel a violent and dangerous path in pursuit of the American dream.
It sounds like an interesting project and something that suits the creative talents and styles of everyone involved.
