Just in January, James Gunn’s plans regarding the new DC Extended Universe projects were confirmed, which would be completely rebooted after the premiere of ‘The Flash’. Now, Dwayne Johnson has dared to talk about all the changes that have happened at DC Studios, and he criticizes the company for the premiere of ‘Black Adam’ and the replacement of Henry Cavill as Superman.
During the 2023 Oscar ceremony, Dwayne Johnson had a red carpet interview for Variety, where criticized DC Studios for its changes to EUDC: “All I could do, and all we could do when we were making ‘Black Adam,’ was do our best and surround ourselves with the best people and deliver the best movie possible. Our audience score was in the nineties. The critics have attacked us a bit, but that’s the business.”
But not only, Dwayne Johnson Talks Henry Cavill Returning as Superman: “It’s almost like when you have a pro football team and your quarterback wins championships and your coach wins championships and then a new owner comes along and says, ‘He’s not my coach, he’s not my quarterback. I’m going with someone new.”
It’s clear that Dwayne Johnson doesn’t like the changes made by James Gunn at DC Studios, which was also heavily criticized by fans of the EUDC he had built by Zack Snyder, and which resulted in the release of the ‘Justice League Snyder Cut’ on HBO Max. ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ director now he wants a younger version of the Man of Steel for “Superman: Legacy”.

James Gunn’s plans with the new Superman movie
Though Henry Cavill’s cameo as Superman in “Black Adam” indicated that the actor would be returning for several more years in the role, the arrival of Peter Safran and James Gunn to the studio brought about some notable changes for the DCEU. Starting with the announcement of a new Superman movie, which will replace Cavill as Clark Kent, with a younger actor.
‘Superman: Legacy’ is the name of the new film of the son of Krypton, which will have nothing to do with the previous installments of the character, and will serve as the starting signal for the start of the new phase of the company. The tape will be released in 2025 and will have James Gunn as a screenwriter, but he is also expected to work as a director on the project.
For now, ‘Black Adam’ has been left as a film that was a box office flop for Warner despite the fact that Dwayne Johnson had been working on it for several years. The future of this anti-hero in the EUDC is clearly not a priority, and it will take a long time to know anything about his continuity
