It joins Lily Rose-Depp, Bill Skarsgard, Nicholas Hoult, Willem DeFoeAND Emma Corrin in the movie. In this new revision, Nosferatu tells the haunting gothic tale of the obsession between a persecuted young woman (Depp) in 19th-century Germany and the ancient Transylvanian vampire (Skarsgard) who stalks her, bringing unspeakable horror with him.

This film is a passion project for Eggers. He also has a long interesting history with film because when he was in high school, he produced a remake of it for his senior year project. Speaking of this, he said:

“Then, when I was 17, I directed the senior show [of] “Nosferatu”. He was very expressionist, he was much more expressionist than the film. It was in the ‘Cabinet of Dr. Caligari’ style [German Expressionistic].”

He went on to talk about what he would have done with film when he was 17, and what he’s trying to do with film recently, saying:

“That’s when I knew this was what I wanted to do. ‘Nosferatu’ has a very close and magical bond for me. Although if you were to make the film that 17-year-old Rob would have made of ‘Nosferatu’ it would have been something between ‘The Nightmare Before Christmas’ and ‘Sin City’ while this will be the same approach as ‘The Witch’ where Baltic Germany Biedermeier from 1830 needs to be articulated in a way that feels real.

FW Murnau and the director of the original 1922, while German director Werner Herzog he notably directed his own version of the classic tale in 1979.

The Focus Features project will be filming in Europe next month. The film is produced by Jeff Robinson, John GrahamEgg, Christopher Columbus AND Eleanor Colombo.

Taylor-Johnson will soon be seen in Marvel’s Kraven the hunter. He also recently wrapped production on the upcoming action-adventure film The fallen boyreturning to collaborate with the director David Leitch.
