The Mandalorian Season 3 premiered recently and is an exciting start to what is sure to be a great new season of the franchise! One thing that intrigued me was how he would deal with the absence of Gina Caranoit’s Cara Dune, and they jumped right in to reveal what she’s up to.

Dune was last seen as Marshal de Navarro, working alongside him Charles Weathers’Gref Karga. When Din Djarin (Peter Pascal) arrives on Navarro in the first episode, Karga tells Djarin that the New Republic has recruited Dune for a special forces unit, and she has left the planet. So, Karga offered Djarin his job, which he declined as he has things to do.
But that means Cara Dune is still alive and well in the Star Wars universe. Now, there’s a possibility that the character could return, but if she does, she will be played by another actress. Dave Filoni previously teased the character could show up by the end of season 3 saying:
“It’s a big galaxy and we have a lot of characters in it. A lot of characters are fighting for their screen time, we’ll just have to see as the season unfolds what the adventures are, but he’s a great character, someone who was vital for Din The beginnings of Djarin; we will see if he has evolved further. Now the third season is mainly about the Mandalorians and the Mandalorian saga, the Mandalorian history. (There are) several characters he met from Bo-Katan, (who) take much more emphasis that it makes sense where his arc is going, the story of him and Grogu in particular.”
It will be interesting to see if Cara Dune returns to the series, and if she does, I wonder who will be cast to replace Gina Carano.
