In a recent interview on the Happy Sad Confused Podcast (via The Playlist), Damon said he auditioned for a Robin role in 1986 or 1987. He doesn’t give many details and doesn’t remember much because he says he was around 16, but it must be so Tim Burtonit’s 1989 Batman. It has been revealed that Burton’s initial ideas for Batman it included a Robin, though the character was later scrapped. Then, years later he was one of Robin’s finalists for George Clooneythe film, Batman and robinwith Joel Schumacher at the helm.
“In 1993, I was one of the last three to play Robin in the George Clooney/Joel Schumacher Batman.Chris O’Donnell he had the part, but they were haggling over the money, and so the studio was flexing by taking two more people to audition, but they wanted Chris, but they wanted him for a price. And I knew Chris and I remember calling him and saying, ‘I’m going to work for a quarter of what that dude is [asking for]. I want the job! So I came in and auditioned for Joel, but they always wanted that [for Chris.”
He went on to confess that he turned down a leading directorial role Christopher Nolan’S The dark Knight. He was ready for the role of Harvey Dent, aka Two-Face.
“Well, Dark Knight’ was a small role that was offered to me. It wasn’t Heath or the Christian part.
Then, finally, he confirmed that it was Aaron Eckart’it’s Harvey Dent’s part.
“There was some other big movie, big part that I was doing where I was like, ‘Well, I can’t play Harvey Dent, this is a relatively small role, but I’m headlining this other thing. But you have to be optimistic about it and say, “Everything is fine.” At this point, I’ve had the biggest payday in history [of cinema]accidentally, so i could never make a worse financial mistake, i could never make a worse financial mistake.
It refers to his Avatars mistake, laughing, but still a little bummed about the whole thing. Damon also said he’s dead Tom McCarthy’S Reflector (would have Mark Ruffalo’s part) and Gus Van Sant’St Milka role he eventually went to Josh Brolin, who earned an Academy Award nomination for the part. But he seems to be taking it all in stride, saying, “I truly believe that the actor gets the part that he should have gotten … this happened for a reason and [Josh] it was amazing.” Damon also said that he and Ben Affleck almost had parts Society of Dead Poets when he was only 18 years old. This makes sense, given that Damon went on to star in a similar star-studded young man ensemble drama around that time titled School ties.
