After the success of ‘Dune’, Denis Villeneuve’s film inspired by Frank Herbert’s books, there has been talk of expanding this universe. Since it was decided to continue the saga with ‘Dune: Part 2’, which will be released later this year and with a prequel to the original film in series format: “Dune: The Sisterhood”which could be delayed up to 7 months due to the many changes it is undergoing.

Currently, the HBO Max series was left without one of the protagonists, Shirley Henderson, who played Tula Harkonnen, and even without its director, Johan Renck, which according to ComicBook indicates, would have been in command of the direction of the first two chapters. These releases come preceded by the resignation of executive producer Diane Ademu-John address other commitments before filming begins in November. Something similar to what did Jon Spaihts, screenwriter of the original film together with Villeneuve and Eric Roth, who initially started with the project and soon left it to concentrate on ‘Dune: Part 2’.
In an interview, an HBO Max spokesperson said: “Since ‘Dune: The Sisterhood’ has gone on a scheduled hiatus, some production changes will be made in an effort to create the best series possible and stay true to the source material”adding to the outputs that: “Johan Renck has completed his work on the series and a new director will be introduced; by mutual agreement Johan will leave to continue with other projects. Moreover, Shirley Henderson will leave the series and will not play Tula Harkonnen”. As for Renck’s departure, ComicBook points out that some reports suggest so the director’s style did not fit with the vision that HBO Max had of the series and which also departed from the style of the films of Denis Villeneuve.
