As the health crisis prevented physical meetings, Morot had to ask Brendan Fraser various challenges to get the final look of ‘The whale’. First, they made several Zoom calls where he had to take measurements and finally create a cast of the actor’s head, using a digital scanner with an iPad, from the actor’s garage.
As for the rest of the body, they had to include a series of gelatinous water chains in the prosthetics to make Brendan Fraser’s movements more realistic to the eye. Once all the makeup work was done, the production team had to help the actor move around the set or get him a wheelchair, as well as put ice packs on him to help with the warmth of suiting up.
“I learned quickly that it takes an incredibly strong person inside that body to be that person. I found it logical and poetic and practical all at the same time,” Brendan Fraser said of putting himself in Charlie’s shoes. “These people, this community, are being judged by doctors when they go to seek medical care. most of the world.
