Wilson is taking some big and interesting steps in the evolution of basketball. The sports manufacturer recently unveiled his latest invention, and it’s a game changer! It’s a prototype for a 3D airless basketball prototype!
It’s unlike any other basketball you’ve ever seen or played with. This ball was created to meet the specifications of official NBA balls, but without air, without skin and full of holes.
Per Wilson Team Sports General Manager, Kevin Murphy, “We are so proud to unveil Wilson’s 3D Airless Prototype Basketball as a physical manifestation of our continued commitment to sports innovation. This is just one example of how our team approaches the game and why we are the number one basketball company in the world today.”
This is fascinating and I can’t wait to play it one day! Will it ever replace the traditional ball? Perhaps? We will see!
The ball was recently used by Houston Rockets small forward Kenyon Martin Jr. during the first round of the AT&T Slam Dunk Contest. You can watch it below.
