Sony Pictures’ plans to create its own interconnected saga featuring supporting characters and villains from the Spider-Man universe have yielded mixed results so far. In addition to Marvel Studios’ “Spider-Man” starring Tom Holland, the studio is developing “Kraven the Hunter,” starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson, “Madame Web,” directed by Dakota Johnson, and “El Muerto,” starring Bad Bunny. The critical and commercial failure of ‘Morbius’, starring Jared Leto, has increased the pressure and doubts among the public, but Sony has a sure value to rely on: “Venom”, his biggest hit within the franchise based on the characters of Marvel Comics.

After the theatrical success of the first installment, which grossed an impressive $856 million worldwide despite receiving negative reviews, the sequel, ‘Venom: There will be carnage’ faced the pandemic box office with logically lower results (506 million), but sufficient to guarantee the continuity of the saga of the symbiote starring Tom Hardy, who is already preparing for his return. ‘Venom 3’ was recently rumored to be filming this summer, after Hardy updated fans with news about the script, which he himself is involved in, and her latest Instagram post could be interpreted as confirmation that signing up is imminentand it may even start sooner than expected.
The popular British actor shared an unseen scene from the first ‘Venom’ to announce that the third chapter is officially in pre-production, i.e. preparing to start filming soon. “While we were working on pre-production on V3, this memory came up”says the actor of the scene, saved from the first film’s editing room, in which Eddie Brock (Hardy) can be seen arguing on the way to the hospital. While there is no official announcement from Sony, everything indicates that filming will take place very soon, with a view to a possible premiere in 2024.
Poison versus Spider?
Nothing concrete is known about the plot of ‘Venom 3’, although in June 2022 Hardy made several Instagram posts implying it it could be the last chapter of a still hypothetical trilogy. With messages like “One Last Dance”the actor seemed to suggest that his leg in the symbiote franchise would end with the third chapter, although for now there is nothing official about it.
Another theory about “Venom 3” is the possibility of finally seeing Tom Holland’s Spider-Man face to face with one of his most iconic enemies. The theory gained momentum after Hardy posted an image from the script that showed a drawing of the symbiote with its long red tongue forming what many believed to be an “S” for Spider-Man. It would make sense, of course, since in the “Venom: There Will Be Carnage” post-credits scene, Eddie discovered Peter Parker’s existence when he saw him on television, which set the stage for their longed-for meeting.. But of course, this is also unconfirmed for now.
