The film centers on Nora and Hae Sung, “two deeply bonded childhood friends, who grow apart after Nora’s family emigrates from South Korea to Canada. Two decades later, they reunite in New York City for a fateful week as they grapple with notions of fate, love, and the choices that make a life, in this harrowing modern day romance.

The film is described as a “painful, deeply romantic” film. The story is told across three moments in time and explores “love, identity, and ‘In Yun’, a Korean notion of fate resulting from the connection of two people in a past life.”

The film was directed by Celine Song and the film is said to be “the rarest of works that transports us, impossibly, to a place deep in our souls, between a life we have longed for and the life we live.”

Past lives stars Greta Lee (Russian Doll, The Twilight Zone) plays Nora, Teo Yoo such as Hae Sung, e John Magaro like Arthur. It will be released in select US theaters this summer, but no date has been set yet.
