Top Gun: nonconformist director Joseph Kosinsky he is currently developing his next major film project, Formula One. The film is the protagonist Brad Pitt as a seven-time world champion Formula 1 driver coming out of retirement to race again and mentor a promising rookie.

Kosinski spoke to Deadline about the film saying it’s “coming fast” and explained that they’re shooting it using techniques they learned while making it. Top Gun: nonconformist. He said: “He IS fascinating. Can’t wait to show people behind the scenes. We’ll be driving around the track in real cars and trying to apply everything I’ve learned in Top Gun to Formula One. It will be funny.”
Speaking earlier about the way the film is being shot, Kosinski shared: Top Guns It makes us all feel good that our approach works and is appreciated by the public.”
He went on to talk about applying this concept to his next film, saying, “It’s almost funny to me to see people so in love with real photography. Young people hardly saw much of it. They are so used to CGI [computer-generated images] being a great movie tool that when you shoot something for real, it feels groundbreaking. This is exactly the approach for Formula One …to shoot real races and real cars and capture them. It will be a huge but exciting challenge for me.”
He’s right! So many movies use CGI these days and it’s extremely rare to see anything like what they’ve done with Top Gun: nonconformist. In fact, we may never see anything like this again involving fighter jets. But I can’t wait to see how they fare with Formula One racing! It looks like it’s going to be a great movie and I’m excited to see how it will be different from other racing movies that have been made in the past.
Ehren Kruger is writing the script, while Top Guns‘S Jerry Bruckheimer is producing alongside Plan B. The film project is in development for Apple, but has plans for a theatrical release.
