This year, true terror returns to the big screen from director Ari Aster, starring Joaquin Phoenix. And is that the new horror film “Beau is Afraid”, from the same mind behind “Hereditary” and “Midsommar”, already has everything ready for its official launch in cinemas and has confirmed the total duration of this hallucinogenic nightmare.
In a statement, A24 confirmed that ‘Beau is scared’ it will last 3 hours, a long-lived nightmare that surely few will be able to bear in its entirety. The film stars Joaquin Phoenix, who brings to life one of the most important executives in the world and who, according to the trailer, seems to have an accident that will make him suffer the craziest hallucinations.
With this, A24 seems to have cut the duration of ‘Beau is scared’, this is because at first the reports stated that the length of the film reached almost 4 hours, which was quite a serious problem in the post-production process of the film. Either way, it represents the A24’s largest and most ambitious production to date.
Ari Aster’s new film, ‘Beau is scared’ opens on April 28 in cinemas, where it will be released under the Spanish name ‘Beau is Afraid’. The story stars Joaquin Phoenix, along with Michael Gandolfini, who will bring to life the younger version of the protagonist, and finally Amy Ryan, who we saw in ‘The Office’ and ‘Lost Girls’ on Netflix.

The twisted story of ‘Beau is scared’
After undergoing an impressive makeover, Joaquin Phoenix underwent another rigorous physical transformation for ‘Beau is Afraid’, from which he had to shed weight again to play Arthur Fleck in ‘Joker: Folie a Deux’. In this world, Beau is a businessman who has a strange relationship with his mother, and then gets into an accident.
Roger and Grace are the people with whom he has the accident, and who seem to hold him hostage in his house, Beau manages to escape, but from where he comes out there is a strange surreal and dreamlike world in which nothing seems to make sense. Or at least that in a first impression, more details will have to be revealed, or see the film at its premiere.
‘Beau is Afraid’ will be released first in theaters in the United States on April 21, 2023. Meanwhile, in Mexico, Spain and a few select places it will run until the 28th of the same month. Don’t miss knowing what the terrifying new adventure of one of the most visionary horror directors of recent times will be like.
