1. Colin’s mom signed him up american idol.

Colin tells the judges that his mother signed him up for the show. He admits that he wanted to compete american idol because “actually, nothing came of it… I want to change it”. After her audition, her judges tell her to get her mother out of the waiting room. Colin’s mother reveals that the singer asked for his first guitar when he was 5 and has been playing ever since.

2. Colin hits a Lynyrd Skynyrd hit.

Colin impresses with his rendition of “Simple Man” from Lynyrd Skynyrd. Lucas Bryan he is very impressed and says Colin is “the one who is American Idol”. Katy Perry she tells Colin she has “the magic”. Colin easily secures a ticket to Hollywood, and Lionel Richie He says it will change your life.

3. Colin is from Mississippi.

Colin is from a small town called Gattman outside of Amory, Mississippi. He lives with his mother, stepfather and their two dogs. He also lives next door to his grandparents. Most of his family live on the same property.

4. Colin’s father is not in his life.

In his introductory pack, Colin reveals that his father was “never really there” for him and his mother. “He preferred alcohol and drugs to me and my mother,” adds Colin. His family took him and his mother in after the situation with his father fell apart.

5. Colin loves horses.

“I had a big problem keeping it all, and that’s what horses teach me, let it go,” she says in her introductory video as she stands outside with her horse. “It’s like you can talk to them, but you don’t say anything and neither do they. It’s one way to deal with it.”
