While fans enjoyed the PG-13 theatrical release of M3GANan unrated version of the film was previously teased by the screenwriter Akela Cooper. That version of the film was said to be much gorier and the body count was much higher. Well, we’ll see this unrated version later this month!

M3GAN arrives digitally February 24 and Blu-ray and DVD March 21 from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment, and includes both theatrical and unrated editions! Speaking earlier about that Unrated Edition, Cooper said:

There should be an unrated version at some point. … I hear it’s on the books. But yeah, it was a lot gorier. His body count in the script was higher than in the film. He was not a Gabriel [in Malignant]full-scale massacre, but killed a lot more people, including a couple of characters who [producer] James [Wan] he was like, ‘I like what you did with those people, but I want them to live.’ I was ruthless, but again it’s me. My humor is extremely dark.”
