The announcement of “Cocaine Bear” was quite the topic on social networks, as there were many memes and jokes about this film. But now, director Elizabeth Banks has said she wants to make a version with the same idea, of ‘Jaws’, Steven Spielberg’s masterpiece, in which even the gigantic animal is as intoxicated as the gigantic bear.

In an interview for People magazine, Elizabeth Banks said she wants to ‘Cocaine shark’, Steven Spielberg’s version of ‘Jaws’ where the big threat of the film is a great white shark intoxicated after ingesting insane amounts of drugs. All this after the news that the New Zealand police found more than three tons of cocaine floating in the Pacific Ocean.

“I found out. If there’s a good story, then for sure. Jaws on cocaine, I don’t see how it can go wrong”, said the director of ‘Cocaine Bear’. In my initial presentation [yo] I brought to the table a lot of really gruesome real-life photographs of people with limbs ripped off and stuff like that, and giant cuts and bites. AND [yo] I just said, ‘I want this, I wanted The Revenant.

In social networks it has quickly become a trend”Cocaine shark”, referring to all the fans who wanted to version of ‘Shark’, but with the animal gone mad from cocaine use. Meanwhile, director Elizabeth Banks contemplates the release of her film, and perhaps this is the beginning of a cinematic universe of wild animals addicted to cocaine.

The True Story Behind ‘Cocaine Bear’

Although there was a lot of wasted potential in the Spanish translation, with ‘Oso Intoxicado’ or ‘Oso vicioso’, ‘Cocaine Bear’ is based on a true story, which happened around the year 1985, when Georgia authorities found some packets of cocaine in middle of the forest, which seemed to have been opened. It was later discovered that a giant black bear had died from ingesting all the bags of drugs.

Although in the film it appears that the cocaine made the bear lose control, in the real story the animal only died of a fatal overdose. Furthermore, it turned out that the packages belonged to a smuggler who was trying to escape in his plane, but seeing that the weight prevented him from continuing his flight, he threw the bags, and so he did, but he could not survive .

Just as crazy as this story sounds, ‘Cocaine Bear’ is a real movie, which will be released in theaters on March 9 and will star Brooklun Prince, O’Shea Jackson, Kristofer Hivju, Keri Russel, Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Ray Liotta, in their last performance before their unfortunate demise.
