‘The Last of Us’ Chapter 6 Tease Includes Long-Awaited Encounter and Ties Into Second Video Game

After the strong emotions of the fifth episode, which arrived earlier than usual so as not to coincide with the Super Bowl, We leave Kansas City behind and continue our journey through post-apocalyptic North America. with Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey).

For the former, the main motivation to keep going was to see his brother, Tommy (Gabriel Luna) and in chapter 5, entitled “Kin”, we finally witness that long-awaited reunionas can be seen in the preview that, like every week, HBO Max launched after the last episode.

The advance shows us the fraternal reunion, which takes place in a snowy town with a western air. As indicated by a sign that appears in the images, we are in Jackson, a small town in Wyoming, mentioned on several occasions by Joel as his destination. However, the encounter differs from the video game, as it does not take place near the hydroelectric dam, but in the city centerafter Joel spots his brother on top of scaffolding.

On the other hand, the promo shows us what appears to be the Tipsy Bison bar, which does not appear in the video games until “Part II”. Its presence in the first season could indicate that elements of the second game will be adapted, or maybe it’s just an easter egg as a wink to the future. In any case, the television adaptation would already be in the process of being introduced several details that could be critical in the second season.

The series, developed by Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann, is already officially renewed, but it is not known when filming will take place and how long we will have to wait to see it. What is clear is this the second installment will adapt “The Last of Us Part II”, although it may take more than one season for thisas Mazin recently pointed out.

A familiar face from HBO joins the series

In addition to the reunion between Joel and Tommy and a taste of the action scenes that await us (with Ellie firing her gun once again), the trailer for “Kin” introduces us to another secondary character from the video game. This is Maria Miller, played in the series by Rutina Wesley, who many will remember as Tara in another HBO series, ‘True Blood’. Maria is Tommy’s wife and leader of the Jackson camp that Joel and Ellie come to.. The character is present in both parts of the video game Naughty Dog, so we could also see her in the second season, as long as Mazin and Druckmann don’t stray too far by adapting their storyline.

Returning to regular programming after the Super Bowl, Chapter 6 of ‘The Last of Us’ premieres Monday, February 13 on HBO Max.
