Harrison Ford he’s no stranger to starring in films with rich legacies and legendary pasts that he helped create. He did it with Star Warsand is now concluding his journey with Indiana Jones and Dial of Fate, the latest film in his Indiana Jones series. While making these movies is a whole new experience all these decades later, Ford sat down with THR to talk about how the old man’s lines that were originally written into the script needed to be cut.

“In [Dial of Destiny] there were a lot of old jokes in the script. We have eliminated them all. There’s a moment where she looks at herself in this situation and goes, “What the fuck am I doing here?” But I hate what I call “talk about history.” I want to see the circumstances in which the audience has a chance to experience the story, not be fooled with the highlights that have been pointed out to them. I’d rather create behavior that is the age joke than talk about it.
Does this make sense. Ford has such a dry sense of humor. He is not a saccharine, he winks at the type of actor of the audience. He wants the lines to be clean and smart and subtle, and I respect that.
Indiana Jones and Dial of Fate will hit theaters June 30, 2023. Are you looking forward to Ford’s final chapter as Indy?
