James Gunn says neither Netflix nor Zack Snyder are interested in continuing the Snyderverse

James Gunn, one of the directors of DC Studios, responded to requests from fans on Twitter urging Warner Bros. to sell what is known as ‘Snyderverse’ to Netflix so that Zack Snyder can continue his comics journey, stating that there is no interest in that sale.

Snyder was one of the architects of the previous DC Universe with films like ‘The Man of Steel’ or ‘Justice League’ among others. His career at DC was cut short when he had to leave post-production on the second due to a family problem, and Warner Bros. appointed Joss Whedon to take over for him. Snyder was able to do his edit sometime later on HBO Max. Currently Snyder has carved out a niche on Netflixwhere he made his debut in 2021 with the film ‘Army of the Dead’ and is preparing ‘Rebel Moon’, of which he intends to make two films.

Gunn, who recently spoke with Snyder, responded on Twitter to the director’s fans calling for his return to directing comic book films, urging DC to sell the rights to Netflix. DC’s CEO said: “I have to say this is one of the craziest hashtags since 1) Netflix has shown no interest (although we discussed other things) e 2) Zack hasn’t expressed any interest and seems genuinely happy doing what he’s doing now (and yes, we talked too)”.

Also, in response to the above and referring to his reboot of the universe, he added that Snyder “He contacted me to say so supported me in my decisions. He is a great uncle. Again, he seems really happy with the big world that he’s building now.”

Recovery response?

Nostalgics of the previous DC Universe could insist on the return of the ‘Snyderverse’ for fear of the reboot that James Gunn wants to make in DC so that everything becomes part of the same story. The idea is that said reboot begins after the premiere of “The Flash”, but the first phase, or whatever they call it “Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters”it won’t arrive until 2025 with the premiere of ‘Superman: Legacy’ in July and the sequel to ‘The Batman II’ in October, the latter being part of a new film label outside of the overall storyline.
