YELLOWSTONE is coming to an end, but the Dutton saga will continue with a new series starring Matthew McConaughey

Some surprising news just came out for Taylor Sheridan’S Yellowstone series as it will bring the current iteration of the show to a close sooner than expected. But the Dutton family saga will continue in a new series that will star Matthew McConaughey.

According to Deadline, while Paramount Network and Sheridan are moving to finish their signature show, many of the actors in the Yellowstone the series will transition to the new show.

I’m sure you’re all wondering what’s going on behind the scenes to make that happen. Well, according to the report, Kevin Costner and the network had disagreements over filming schedules.

It is explained that Costner, “who was initially limited to 65 shooting days in Yellowstone, only wanted to shoot for 50 days for the first part of the current season. But for the second batch of episodes of the current, fifth season of Yellowstonethe actor, who just won Best Television Actor in a Drama Series at the Golden Globes, just wanted to spend a week shooting.”

As you can imagine, this has caused some frustration for Sheridan, the cast and crew, and it’s “understood to be causing moral problems for the other stars of the show.” Some of the major players include Luke Grimeg, Kelly Reilly, WestBentley, ColeHauser, Kelsey Asbille AND Gil Birmingham.

Paramount Network said no to Costner’s most recent proposal and instead made the decision to move forward with the new extension show, which Sheridan will write.

The Paramount Network spokesperson said in a statement, “We have no news to report. Kevin Costner is a big part of Yellowstone and we hope that’s the case for a long time to come. Thanks to the brilliant mind of Taylor Sheridan, we’re always working on franchise expansions of this incredible world that he built. Matthew McConaughey is a phenomenal talent that we would love to collaborate with.

Costner is currently directing and starring in his own multi-part epic western titled Horizonwith whom he co-wrote Jon Baird which came to Warner Bros. Pictures and New Line. That’s where he’s spending most of his time right now.

It is unknown what the story will entail or how the Dutton saga will continue. We also don’t know if the McConaughey-starring series will be set on Dutton’s ranch in Montana or somewhere else.

It has been reported that it is “quite possible Yellowstone will end with the second half of the current season, which will return in the summer.
