As the DC Universe enters the first chapter of its era under bosses James Gunn and Peter Safran, Zachary Levi has caused quite a bit of “fury” on social media after tweeting an anti-Pfizer post.
Levi quote tweeted a message from Lyndon Wood that reads: “Agree or disagree that Pfizer poses a real threat to the world?” The Shazam! The actor added: “Hardcore agrees.”
While Levi did not mention Pfizer’s Covid-19 vaccine, many users on Twitter interpreted his tweet as anti-vax. After the resistance, Levi tweeted a link to a Justice Department publication announcing that the drug company will pay $2.3 billion for a fraudulent marketing settlement.
Gunn addressed the backlash during DC’s presentation of their new projects, when a reporter asked: “Zach Levi tweeted something about vaccines a few days ago that upset some people. I don’t know if you have any comment on that. .”
Gunn replied: “Actors and filmmakers that I work with will say things that I agree with and things that I don’t agree with. It will happen. I don’t have a list of things that someone should say based on what I think. I can’t keep changing my plans because an actor says something I don’t agree with.”
“Similarly, if someone does something morally reprehensible, that’s a different story. We must consider these things. It’s a balance, it’s a modern world, it’s a different place.”
Shazam! wrath of the gods will premiere on March 17.
