Jason Bateman on the matter of directing The Pinkerton for Warner Bros & Bad Robot

EXCLUSIVE: Jason Bateman will direct The Pinkerton, a supernatural revenge western hybrid that Warner Bros. and bought JJ Abrams’ Bad Robot two years ago. Photo was sold as a spec by Daniel Casey of F9.

It was Bad Robot’s first original film project since Warner Bros signed a major deal with the producer. Bateman and Michael Costigan will executive produce. Bad Robot’s Abrams and Hannah Minghella are producing.

The Pinkertons were a private security and detective agency founded in the United States in 1850 by Scotsman Allan Pinkerton. Pinkerton gained notoriety when he claimed to have foiled a plot to assassinate President-elect Abraham Lincoln, who later employed Pinkerton agents for his personal security during the Civil War.

Bateman made his film debut bad words and followed along The family cornerand won an Emmy and two SAG Awards for directing episodes of Ozark, along with the two Emmys he won for Best Actor in this fantastic series.

He is represented by CAA and Lighthouse Management + Media.
